Join us for a unique leadership experience in and around the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park
“The importance of leadership and its impact changes dramatically when we are informed by the world around us as well as those with whom we work”
Our latest leadership experience is especially designed for leaders who:
- are exploring meaning and purpose for themselves as individuals and as leaders
- are rethinking the way in which they relate to others, their organisations and the communities in which they operate
- are prepared to have their current thinking and experience around leadership challenged.
During this four-night/five-day experience, we have the opportunity to:
- meet with local communities of traditional owners and pastoralists to better understand the past, present and future importance of this area for everyone
- spend time on site at one of the oldest and most intact fossil beds in the world (Ediacara) on Nilpena Station
- explore the unique environment of Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park
- continue to build our own levels of self-awareness and emotional health and our understanding of our leadership roles within all of this and the broader global context.
Why did we choose this remote location for this experience?
First, it provides all of us with the opportunity to see the horizon, both literally and metaphorically. Visiting this region in a leadership development context broadens our own awareness, just as the land opens to the sky. As we see more of the world, we can also see more of ourselves.
Another reason for being in this particular environment is that it is the quickest way to enable us to find clarity of thought, balance our three ‘centres’ – the head, the heart and the body – and become more grounded and present, appreciating the benefit of increasing our levels of emotional health as a result.
Becoming detached from familiar surroundings brings insight and perspective, enabling us to return home with a much clearer focus and better understanding of our leadership roles and what is important to each of us.
We also use these experiences as an opportunity to bring benefits to the communities we visit. Through our work we endeavour to make a sustainable difference and contribute directly to the community’s wellbeing and livelihood.
The details
This leadership experience is co-facilitated with our Community Fellow Annie Knappstein, who has played an integral role in bringing together members of the diverse communities we will meet as well as having a passion for the country we will be in.
Your investment for this experience includes return transport for the group from Adelaide and all other transport throughout, accommodation, all meals, all costs associated with travel and entrance fees to specific venues and locations connected with the experience and all facilitation and development materials provided by Global Leadership Foundation.
Depending on availability, we will be accommodated at either or both of Gum Creek Station and the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna. (Exact accommodation details for each experience will be listed on the specific booking page for that event.)
You will be asked to provide your own travel and health insurances and meet any personal costs outside those identified.
The experience typically runs over five days from Thursday to Monday. The group of no more than eight leaders departs Adelaide with two of our Global Leadership team on the Thursday morning, travelling together through the Clare Valley and arriving at our accommodation around 5 pm. We return to Adelaide airport by 5 pm on the following Monday.
We look forward to having you join us on this wonderful experience and would love to have a further conversation with you to answer any questions you may have or talk more about the experience itself.
“The recent leadership challenge expedition to the Flinders Ranges in SA was for me a truly enlightening experience, particularly given the scenery and environment which we experienced but also the company of peers with quite diverse backgrounds and leadership challenges of their own. This diversity, along with the amazing people and places that we had the privilege of meeting and visiting along the way, culminated in an extremely valuable experience, particularly for me and my leadership challenge. The quality and depth of the conversations amongst some truly amazing Australians was pure gold.” – John Versteden
