About us

Raising the emotional health levels of people on the planet

Global Leadership Foundation was formed in 2003 with the intention to ‘raise the emotional health levels of people on the planet’.

To achieve this, we develop, strengthen and transform the potential in leaders, teams and organisations. We are recognised for our significant contributions within the private, professional, not-for-profit, community and public sectors across the world.

Making mindful, constructive and respectful decisions in every situation

Central to all we do is the concept of emotional health. Emotional health is a state of enhanced wellbeing created through highly conscious choices and practices. When you have a high level of emotional health, you are able to make mindful, constructive and respectful decisions and choices in every situation you find yourself in. A person with a high level of emotional health takes personal responsibility for the way in which they relate to and engage with others and the world around them.

Vertical development helps us let go of our limited thinking and perceptions

Increasing emotional health is a form of vertical development. Vertical development is about building our ability to recognise and let go of our own limited thinking and perceptions. As this occurs, we are more able to genuinely relate to and engage with others and the world around us. This contrasts with the more common horizontal development, which is more about the ‘what’ of leadership – discrete skills, processes and tools.

Over 20 years of building emotional health

We established Global Leadership Foundation in 2003. Our original intention was, and remains, ‘to raise the emotional health levels of people on the planet’, underpinned by three guiding principles: self-realisation, collaboration and stewardship.

From our base in Australia, we have worked with organisations in the private, professional, not for profit, community and public sectors, both at home and across the world. We have also co-authored two books, the latest being Working with Emotional Health and the Enneagram.

A global network of expertise

Over time we have also collaborated with an amazing and growing worldwide network of Global Leadership Fellows and Friends. Each brings their own expertise across leadership, team and organisation transformation, strategy and its implementation and executive mentoring and coaching, and each is recognised by their clients and peers for the contributions they make.

Our guiding principles

Our guiding principles of self-realisation, collaboration and stewardship underpin the way in which we work and the way we engage with others. Each of these principles impacts on and influences the other. As a person gains insight in one of these areas, the significance of the connection to the others becomes apparent.

Leader, team and organisation transformation

Our work includes transformational programs within the private, professional, not for profit, community and public sectors. With a focus on vertical development, we work with executives, board members, senior leaders and their teams to build their capability as empathic, resilient and effective in all they do. We achieve this through a combination of individual, team and organisation development approaches, coaching and mentoring, strategic planning and implementation and cultural transformation.

Leader Transformation

We build and strengthen leaders’ emotional health and with that their ability to understand themselves, recognise their potential and lead with authenticity. This involves learning about individual preferences and styles and the ways in which these impact a leader’s team, their organisation and the wider community.

Team Transformation

We engage and support leaders and their teams to strengthen collaboration and increase their effectiveness and contribution to organisation success. This is characterised by a shared vision, mutual accountability, genuine appreciation and feedback, and recognition of the unique strengths that each person brings to the whole.

Organisation Transformation

We focus on ensuring that the ‘way we do things around here’ – behaviours, symbols and systems – is fully aligned to the vision and agreed strategic direction of the organisation. Achieving this level of transformation often requires re-engagement of people in the organisation as well as finding new ways of operating.

Committed to creating a more equitable and sustainable world

We believe in the positive role that collaboration can play in developing and expanding leadership capabilities for people, organisations and communities across the globe. We work alongside, share knowledge with and admire a range of individuals and organisations worldwide, always holding the question, ‘What can we do together that we can’t do apart?’
