I have just had the opportunity to spend 5 days with Andrea Isaacs experiencing her work in EnneaMotion and training in its use (www.enneamotion.com).
EnneaMotion uses simple movement exercises to explore the relationship between thoughts, feelings and the body. Exploring the nine styles and their range of qualities in this way re-patterns the brain and trains new neural pathways. This increases our emotional intelligence because it increases our ability to access the best traits of all humanity.
EnneaMotion can also be used to transform habitual and disturbing emotional patterns
into something that can be used as an antidote. The next time that ‘same old thing’ starts
to arise, there’s something you can do to turn it around.
I explored all nine Enneagram types through EnneaMotion – creating “mudras” (symbolic body postures and hand movements) and “mantras” (silently repeated words and phrases) for specific characteristics I wanted to build and strengthen. The process started with us exaggerating the movement and speaking the phrases out loud, however through practice we eventually internalised these. I now start each day practising each mudra and mantra – almost as a meditation.
The point? By changing the way I respond and react I am more able to be present to situations and make choices that are more effective with others and for my life (just as a start).
Andrea is joining us for the Enneagram in Action – Mind, Body and Spirit Conference from June 24th – 26th, 2010. As well as being our Keynote Speaker and conducting workshops during and after the conference, she will also be offering private sessions in the week prior. I would certainly encourage anyone who would like to explore this amazing approach to changing emotional patterns – just register your interest on our site. Gayle
