The Opening Doors community leadership program for social inclusion has been running in Melbourne’s south-east since 2009. This fortnightly program in Box Hill aims to increase connections and community leadership skills, and is open to all who work, live or play in or near the areas of Whitehorse, Monash or Manningham. The program is provided free to the lucky community members who successfully win a place on it.

Since its inception, more than 250 graduates now have the skills, confidence and networks to create lasting change in their local communities. They have instigated over 120 innovative community initiatives which actively promote social inclusion and reduce isolation, resulting in more than 100,000 community members being more connected with their communities in new and meaningful ways.

Global Leadership Foundation has been a proud supporter of this groundbreaking program since the start, and we will be again this year. Once again, Gayle Hardie will facilitate the initial three-day intensive workshop. We are pleased to know that Global Community Fellow Alex Mills, who we met as a participant in the 2010 Opening Doors program (and who went on to coordinate the program for a decade), will act as an advisor throughout the almost six months of the program.
