Ikara – Ediacara: A past, present and future leadership experience for Friends and Fellows

Loading Events

We are excited to invite you to join us for a unique Leadership Experience in the southern Flinders Ranges (Ikara) from Friday, May 14 to Tuesday May 18, 2021. Locating ourselves at Gum Creek Station for the first two nights and at The Prairie Hotel, Parachilna for the last two, we have the opportunity to:

  • visit and explore the many spectacular gorges and unique environment of Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park
  • meet with the local communities of traditional owners and pastoralists to better understand the past, present and future importance of this area for everyone
  • spend time at the site of one of the oldest and most intact fossil beds in the world (Ediacara) on Nilpena Station, and
  • continue to build our own levels of self-awareness and emotional health and our understanding of our leadership roles within all of this and the broader global context.

Your investment of $2750 (including a deposit of $1100, all prices GST inclusive) includes return transport for the group from Adelaide and throughout the experience, accommodation, all meals, all costs associated with travel and entrance fees to specific venues and locations connected with the experience and all facilitation and development materials provided by Global Leadership Foundation.

Why did we choose this remote location for our next experience?

First, it provides all of us with the opportunity to see the horizon, both literally and metaphorically. Visiting this region in a leadership development context broadens our own awareness, just as the land opens to the sky. As we see more of the world, we can also see more of ourselves.

Another reason for being in this particular environment is that it is the quickest way to enable us to find clarity of thought, balance our three ‘centres’ – the head, the heart and the body – and become more grounded and present. Becoming detached from familiar surrounds brings insight and perspective, enabling us to return home with a much clearer focus and understanding of our leadership roles and what is important to each of us.

We also use these experiences as an opportunity to bring benefits to the communities we visit. Through our work we endeavour to make a sustainable difference and contribute directly to the community’s wellbeing and livelihood.

The details

A group of 8 leaders will depart with two of our Global Leadership team from Adelaide airport at 10 am on Friday, May 14 and return back to Adelaide airport by 4 pm on Tuesday, May 18.  The expectation is that we will travel together from Adelaide to our destination, through the Clare Valley, arriving at Gum Creek Station around 4 pm.

In addition to the activities involved in the experience, the opportunity is also available to take to the air and investigate this amazing country by plane – including flying over the Maree Man and Lake Eyre (at your own cost).

A deposit of $1100 (incl. GST) will secure your place on this unique leadership experience. For the first four registrations we will allocate you a room at The Lodge (Gum Creek Station) as your ‘Early Bird’ gift from us. The Shearers’ Quarters will house the other 6 participants on the first two nights. We want to assure you that while these rooms are not as luxurious, they will provide warm, cosy and enjoyable accommodation.

Please register below to pay your deposit. If you would prefer to pay by invoice please RSVP to this email and we will issue one immediately.

This leadership experience will be co-facilitated with our Community Fellow Annie Knappstein, who has played an integral role in bringing together members of the diverse communities we will meet as well as having a passion for the country we will be in.

We are limiting our invitations at this time, given the interest we have already received and the number of participants that can be with us at any one time. If there is someone else you believe would benefit from this experience please contact us so that we can talk more about this.

We are looking forward to having you join us and would love to have a further conversation with you to answer any questions you may have or talk more about the experience itself.
